Beijing has outlined regulations to smooth out traffic flow for the upcoming summit between China and African nations, set to start early next month.

Based on information released from a conference on traffic safety on Wednesday, central government-affiliated institutions and foreign organizations, along with Beijing municipal level departments and working offices of other regions, are being required to cut their usage of vehicles during the event.

Also during the period, tourism, commerce and cultural departments will be not allowed to organize large-scale events, including travels and sales promotion and performances.

To avoid rush hour, the working hours for some companies will be adjusted and students will be dismissed from school earlier.

Additionally, between 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. freight trucks will not be allowed to use the roads within and including the fourth rind road. What's more, transportation of dangerous chemicals will be banned around the clock.

Traffic management authorities will also restrict cabs that don't carry passengers from key areas.

Residents are also being advised to take public transportation or bike to work to reduce the number of cars on the road.
